Prostate Cancer Support Group will be meeting at the Bargara Central Hotel this coming Monday, 28 Oct at 12:00. For catering purposes, please contact me before this evening (Villa 466 or 0499755522) if you intend to join us.
lAthough every effort was made, it is not possible for Dr. Tristan Shaw, local oncologist to be our guest speaker on Monday 28 October. However, there is every likelihood that he will be able to join us in November. Wives, family and friends will be welcomed at that meeting.
Therefore Monday 28 October will be a men only meeting with a difference. I will email out my proposal to those I have email addresses for. If you want to be included either message me your email address or contact me at Villa 466.

Our May meeting has been canceled since many of us are away in May.
However, our June meeting is a significant one as we will have Di Schulz as our guest speaker. Di is a prostate cancer specialist nurse operating in the Bundaberg/Wide Bay region. She brings a large amount of knowledge, skills and advice on where and how to seek support.
The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia has put out a Survivorship Toolkit. It covers everything from symptoms through to advanced prostate cancer.
EVERY man should access it.
We held our first meeting on Friday in the Oasis Lounge where we had 8 men in attendance. The main aim of the meeting was to discuss whether it was worthwhile establishing a prostate cancer support group in our community. It was unanimous that we form the group not only for our own benefit but to promote awareness of prostate cancer and let the men in our community know that they don't have to walk the prostate cancer journey on their own.
We do have some booklets on understanding prostate cancer and the various treatments. We hope to place these in a prominent location in the Seabreeze Clubhouse (main foyer or library) for anyone to access.
We will be looking at affiliating ourselves with the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. Anyone can access their online resources through www.PCFA.org.au
